{WIAW} What I Ate Wednesday: August 27th

Linking up with Peas and Crayons today because it’s What I Ate Wednesday, a day to share the meals I’ve prepared for myself and eaten, and an opportunity for you to see the day to day meals of a primal eater.

Breakfast

My most favourite bulletproof espresso made of 2 shots Lavazza espresso, 1 tbsp Kerrygold butter, 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 heaped tsp of xylitol to sweeten.

A slice of my delicious Whenever Quiche

And a bowl of antioxidants (aka blueberries and apricots – great for fighting oxidative stress, brought on by exercise, among other things), coconut cream and a crumbled Nutter Bomb – aka a deconstructed Primal Fruit Parfait. I am so in love with this and happy I get to eat it everyday.

Not shown: a glass of water, a potassium supplement, a magnesium supplement, and a CoEnzyme Q10 supplement.

Lunch

A kinda omelette made with 2 eggs, 1 slice of bacon (cut up), some leftover boiled Salad Blue potatoes, chopped cherry tomatoes and sliced spring onion. All fried in butter. Served with cucumber, avocado and a dollop of full-fat cream cheese.

The potatoes are from our garden, so are therefore organic. Look how beautiful they are with the onions and tomatoes!

And my usual Caveman Keto Fat Bomb for dessert. Just one though.

Workout snacks

I had one Nakd bar (dates, cashews, raisins and cocoa powder) after my swim today – 200 m easy to warm up; 300 m steady race-pace; 2 x 100 m hard with 50 m recovery; 200 m easy cool down.

Once home, I did my Primal Blueprint Fitness push ups, pull ups, squats and planks.

Post-workout,  I had some sliced melon and blueberries, with Greek yogurt and pumpkin seeds afterwards. I also took an L-Glutamine tablet. Sorry, I forgot to snap a photo of this one!

Dinner

I tried a new recipe today, featured on Stupid Easy Paleo, but from the upcoming book by Danielle Walker Against All Grain: Meals Made Simple. It’s Slow Cooker Thai Beef Stew and OMG it’s amazing!

And of course it’s made with grass-fed beef – diced steak in particular – and served with a little Basmati rice for muscle glycogen.

Dessert was some macadamia nuts and a piece of 85% dark chocolate.

    • I’ve never actually had a Lara bar so I couldn’t say. Thinking about it, I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen them sold here in Scotland…. I really don’t even want to eat Nakd bars but it’s a quick hig-glycemic lift if I’m feeling drained during a workout.

    • Our dinner was pretty close to post workout, so I didn’t have much immediately after. Interesting you see the nutter bombs, parfait and fat bombs as treats: they all serve a purpose to me and are part of my fueling/fat comsumption. I do love sweets and don’t want to just rely on fruit for it 🙂

    • Thank you! I gathered that when I visited your blog.

I hear you about eggs: omelettes, and bacon and eggs can get tiring! I still have eggs everyday, but in my Whenever Quiche: at least there’s a lot to it than just eggs. And I’m absolutely in LOVE with the parfait. I feel so indulgent when I have it, and I’m so happy it’s primal-friendly 🙂
